INTRODUCTION

The Dunman High School Chinese Orchestra Senior High Section was established in 2007 when a few passionate CO members from the pioneer batch of students in Dunman High's Integrated Programme decided to stay on with DHSCO. We are now into the 2nd year of establishment and although the orchestra may be small in size, we're definitely large in spirit and passion for DHSCOSH! :)) Catch us perform together with the DHSCO Junior High Section in our annual concert held at the Victoria Concert Hall in Spring 2009!

Teachers' Day Celebration 2008

Yesterday night, a bunch of us DHSCOSH kids went to Wei Cheng's house (technically, his grandma's house cos they live like, practically side by side) to bake cookies for the DHSCO teachers in charge. :) For those who couldn't make it, check out all the fun you missed out on. HEHE!

This was the very first packet we opened and mixed. Looks gross, doesn't it?

Ting Pei: Eh, did we miss out that step?!

Suprisingly, the guys were really 'man' to volunteer to make the first batch of cookies!

Uhh.. no wonder they turned out like that. :D

Before that was a series of activities and a concert organized by the DHS Student Council where each class was supposed to adopt a movie and dress like the characters in it.

bz week ahead...

Hi people.

It's going to be a tough and busy week ahead!

First up is the CCAB concert tmr! Please give your best and nothing but the best for tmr! Make all the time we spent on sat n mon practicing worth it! (:

THAT is where we will be tomorrow, in a few hours time.

And sadly, horribly, disgustingly, this week is the 'spammed-with-tests' week. 加油 for those with chemistry test, physics test, CSC test!

If the above sounds like 3/4 of your subject combi then... GG!

(haha yes i think i'm talking about you shining)

But anyway, just survive through till thursday... just 撑住 for that few more days...

then there are all these to look forward to:

1) secret mission on thursday after chem test!

2) teachers day celebrations on fri! no lessons (((((((:

3) OMG HOLIDAYS!

~~just that sadly you will have to spend most of the days mugging for promos~~

ABOUT CCAB (:

exactly one week later it will be the super exciting CCAB concert!

it is our performance in like 2542421452 years ever since the Di Tanjong Katong performance at VJC if you guys vaguely remember haha :D

anyway, more details about this upcoming concert:

26th August 2008

1130 pm - leave lessons ~~ohmygodnomasspe~~
1130 to 1215 pm - practice
1215 to 1245 pm - lunch
1245 to 100 pm - REST!
100 to 115 pm - load instrus / board bus
115 to 200 pm - set off for SCH
230 to 315 pm - rehearsal
500 to 530 pm - ~~the real thing!~~ PERFORMANCE!
615 to 700 pm - return to DHS
715 pm - bus back to eunos mrt

that is the rough outline of what is going to happen on that day. Please note that there is bus back to Eunos Mrt (:

next, attire!

FOR MALES:
- long sleeve white shirt
- school long pants
- black socks
- leather shoe

FOR FEMALES:
- long sleeve white shirt
- junior high skirt --> NOTE!
- stockings
- court shoes

FOR ALL:
- blazor!
- junior high school badge
- school tie
- DHSCO badge

So, go stock up on all those stuff that you need! Females please go try squeezing into your junior high skirt and hope that 8 months did not make much of a difference (:

LASTLY, please please please go collect your blazors from nyein nyein in the morning before flag raising. She has kindly gave the senior high performers priority to take first so that we get to choose the SIZE! So if you don't want to end up looking like:

AND, lastly (really lastly) please practice hard for the concert! (especially after that practice on friday lol)

THE FUN IS STARTING :D

HELLO PPL. :D

As you guys should have known by now, practice for senior high will officially start in week 7. and yes, it sounds like this coming week (:

we have a busy schedule ahead of us! First up is the CCAB concert on 26th august and the songs we are performing include:

西北组曲

花木兰

龙腾虎跃

so ppl! if you refuse to 混 through your 十六分音符 for 花木兰, please make good use of the upcoming practices! By the way, I will be constantly updating the calendar of this blog regarding our practices so please refer to it!

Other than this CCAB concert, we also have other exciting events lined up!

(i) our very FIRST and very OWN DHSCO(SH) CIP!

(ii) senior high initiation camp in dec at new campus!
(iii) busking to raise funds in Dec!
(iv) our very FIRST senior high concert!

The zongwus (Biyu, Felicia, Suyun, Shining) are currently busy planning all the above for u guys! If anyone of you are eager to help out in the planning process, please feel free to approach them. They can definitely do with more help, especially publicity! Haha, the amount of publicity involved in the above projects are killing Shining! (:

HOWEVER! please do note that no matter how much effort the zongwus put into planning the events, the above projects can never be successful if our musical standards are not THERE!

So if your erhu/gaohu/zhonghu/suona/dizi/sheng/pipa/zhongruan/daruan/liuqin/yangqin/cello/guzheng/plus all the misc drums are looking like these:

please make good use of these senior high practices to brush up on your 基本功!

I'm seeing a lot of guilty looks already! HAHA!

And meanwhile, please do keep a lookout for nice songs that u would like to perform for the upcoming concert/cip! Start finding the ppl to perform with/the scores/the 伴奏 et cetera!

Okay that's pretty huge chunks of information for one single blog post.
